THE ARTIST:
HANS D’HOLLOSY
Hans d’Hollosy is a well-known painter, currently living and working in Oregon. His feelings for nature and animal are brought out in his animistic approach to his paintings and their images. His whimsical sense of humor is evident in his wry sense of wordplay and a surreal approach to the pictorial organization of his subject matter.
Born in 1953 and educated in The Hague, The Netherlands and Eugene, Oregon, Hans has lived and painted in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, CA, New York City and Eugene, Oregon. He graduated from the University of Oregon - School of Fine Arts (Bachelor in Fine Arts – 1976). He has exhibited in museums and galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Francisco. Collectors of his art include Leo Castelli, Ronald Perelman, Sony Music Corporation and The Revlon Collection.
Locally, he has participated in First Friday showings and we featured his works during the 2003 Home Tour. I started collecting his work while working in Europe in 1979. Fifteen of the paintings feature animals, primarily dogs, in unique renderings.
10% of art sale proceeds will be donated to Friends of Hance Dog Park.
