Found in one of Mrs. Medelson's journals: I'm a lifetime collector and I've loved every minute of it!
And this is evident throughout the entire house.
She was the first woman scheme examiner at the U.S. Post Office in the State of Arizona. Her position was in the training department. She tested whether workers grouped mail into the correct area to ease delivery by the carriers. She even traveled to the Navajo Indian reservation to test workers in their small post office. She studied hard to earn her position and was gratified when another woman followed her in that role when she retired after 25 years.
Mrs. Mendelson had many interests and hobbies. She painted watercolors, made jewelry and crafts, hooked rugs and was an avid writer and reader. She loved travel and left a very extensive postcard collection from around the world. She also bought first-edition commemorative stamps and first day covers while working at the Post Office. Her Postal Service mementos are also included in our jamb packed tables!
According to her daughter, one of the best things in her life was Walkabouts Arizona, where she made many friends and for a time wrote for their newsletter. She went on local, regional, and international trips with members of the group and also made trips to Beijing, Shanghai, and Xian, China and later on a Mediterranean cruise visiting Greek islands, Italy and Turkey.
Now it is time for all these diverse treasures to find a new home!
No matter heat, rain, sleet or snow,
this is the place you must go!
World traveler, years of collecting,
worked at the post office,
now YOU are treasure selecting!
Please remember: NO PRICING GIVEN OUT BY PHONE OR EMAIL. WE ARE TOO BUSY SETTING UP AND GETTING EVERYTHING READY FOR YOU TO SHOP. THANK YOU.
