This proud and kind German-American family has lived in this home since it was built in 1919, nothing was ever thrown out. The family came to Joliet in the 1860s, started a quarry, a blacksmith shop, owned 3 different corner grocery stores, one family member was mayor and another an important war hero in WWII. This is a beloved and prolific family in our community. No one in the family was a collector, these are all truly family heirlooms/antiques with provenance. I've been at this since 1974, I haven't been in a house like this in our area since the early 1980s, it truly is a time machine.

Due to a couple people's bad behavior at my last sale and the large amount of smalls, we are NOT allowing anyone to bring in a purse, bag, or coat on day one of the sale. We will also check the contents of your bags before you can exit. Jewelry will be shown one piece at a time. If you break something, you buy it, don't go trying to hide it. No discounts on day one. I will discount day two and with the amount greatly increasing as we go through this four day, super sale. I will add photos continuously, please check back regularly.

ANTIQUES...antique country store displays (I can provide a copy of a photo of items in one store if you want it to go with your item) including a large wooden Nabisco/National Biscuit display rack. It is perfect for displaying whatever you collect. There is also a large metal one in the basement, but condition is rough. Large Calumet Baking Powder wall/calendar clock. This is one of the items in the store photo that can clearly be seen. Large antique country store coffee barrels both wood and metal, store size display tins for marshmallows, chips, pretzels, etc; Impressive large stained glass window with a mortar and pestal/drug store motif. I believe this once hung at Herath's on Ruby St, before it was Herath's and belonged to someone in this family. Several large wire store racks, which are also in the grocery store photo. Large amount of World's Fair items, several antique pocket watches, several pocket knives, many antique lamps including a 1920s Egyptian sphinx style with pink slip shade, pair of Rin Tin Tin lamps from the 1920s, akro agate/uranium glass table lamp, kerosene lamps.
