Pondside Jamaica Plain Estate Sale: Antiques, Masonic Artifacts, Listed Artists and Vintage Clothing

Hunt Estate Sales is excited to welcome you to this Jamaica Plain pondside home Friday September 5th, Saturday September 6th and Sunday September 7th from 9am to 3pm.

This home has been in the family for generations and the collection offered for sale spans back to the late 1800's.

This West Point graduate served in our army and was an active member of many fraternal societies. Masonic artifacts including ceremonial costumes, framed certificates, books and accessories. Ladies Masonic jewelry too. Ahepa ceremonial costumes, programs, paper ephemera and convention books from the 1920's and 30's. He was a passionate woodworker and leaves behind handcrafted furniture and an eclectic collection of salvaged pieces. The most impressive appears to be salvaged from a pub; the door way is intricately carved with dentil molding with signage stating "we are not responsible for lost or left items". He also crafted his own orzo and wine; we unearthed wine casks in many sizes. 

His tenant, a Frenchman, was a member of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 40 years beginning in the teens. Remnants of his transatlantic journeys fill the house with wardrobe trunks and travel cases. Autographed portraits of his colleges in the Symphony will also be available for sale. 

His wife, a talented seamstress and educated in fashion design, amassed an enormous collection of clothing, purses, hats and shoes. Antique undergarments and detailed needlework, fashions from the 30's to the 80's and sterling and costume jewelry will be available for sale. There are two antique sewing machines, a huge button collection, yards and yards of raw fine fabric, vintage and unused, and antique lace too.

Additional arts includes but is not limited to Aimee Lamb’s 1938 “Waiting for the Concert” signed oil on canvas, W. Lester Stevens, unknown title, oil on canvas circa 1930’s, Louis Icart “Le Chapean Bleu” signed color lithograph circa 1928 and a Martha Powell Setchell, illustrator of Fannie Farmer’s Junior Cookbook, drawling.

A rare six legged Starck baby grand piano, bought in 1933.

A collection of felt pennants including souvenir, collegiate and military.

Murad tobacco silks, college sports, Zira cigarettes, pipes and fine cigarette holders.
