History of Scout’s Attic:
When Sylvan and Liz meet, they quickly realized they had a common love of antiques. Sylvan grew up in Holland and England in a family of buyers and sellers of antique art, clocks and watches. He continued collecting these items when he moved to the United States. Liz grew up collecting art and decorative smalls.
In 2011, they opened a warehouse in the Broad Avenue warehouse/business district where Sylvan could focus on refurbishing antique furniture and lighting. Known for buying and selling interesting items, their inventory quickly grew. In 2012, they began opening their doors to the public and have continued hosting periodic sales with items found in their travels around the United States and Europe.
Since starting in the antiques business, Scout’s Attic has made many good friends and mentors. In 2013, Liz left her position with International Paper and joined Sylvan full time. That is when their on-line business took off. Since then Liz and Sylvan have continued to sell locally but have focused more and more on travel and internet sales.
Many of these antiques for sale on May 16th are from Liz and Sylvan's home.
