We have moved an exciting collection from a private home to a public setting due to its scope and the number of items that will be available.

10% off the Blackburn Collection today April 6

Doors open at 11:00 am.This will be the opening sale and exhibition in the new Estate Sale Gallery at Los Patios, and I am pleased to present the collection of well known collector, Dr. Dennis Blackburn. Dr. Blackburn's gift for discovering lesser known folk artists, as well as well known artisans, has resulted in pots, folk art, weavings, Retablos, religious statuary, Texas art, New Mexico folk art, furniture, and books in a wide and deep inventory for scholars and beginning collectors alike.

Georgia Jobes and I are networking together to present this extensive assemblage of Tarahumara items, dozens of beautiful and out of print books on Native Americans, Southwest pottery, Texana, Mexican and New Mexican Folk Art and Religious Art, and many Navajo rugs so that more shoppers can have an opportunity to buy and to provide more parking space. Georgia has worked closely with Kay Kerr to help our staff organize this large collection. Both are long-time friends of the family. San Antonio expert appraiser and curator, Bruce Shackleford, has assisted in identifying some of the items, and we are appreciative of his time and knowledge.

Artists include Robert Wood, Gene Kloss, Harrison Begay, Kevin Red Star and San Antonio artist Raul Gutierrez. Rustic Santa Fe furniture, interesting carved furnishings and chests, and related furniture styles will round out this exciting sale.

Another section of the gallery will showcase Asian and ethnic furnishings and lighting, as well as timeless styles of art, furniture, and accessories.

We are cataloging the collection and posting photos and details as we work. Mark your calendar now to attend this exciting sale and look at a few examples that are posted now.
