AMES PLANTATION APPRAISAL FAIR

February 15, 2006 Grand Junction, Tennessee Does your heart beat a little faster when you hear a story about a $1 flea market "find" that turns out to be worth thousands? Do you haunt the antique/junk stores and yard sales looking for just the right piece to catch your eye? Have you inherited items from your grandparents with very little information or do you have long forgotten antiques in the attic collecting dust? Well, dust them off, pack them up and head to the Ames Plantation at Grand Junction, Tennessee on Saturday March 11th for an Antique Appraisal Fair to benefit The Stencil House.

All proceeds from the Antique Appraisal Fair will go toward restoration of The Stencil House, an 1830’s log house, originally located in Wayne County, Tennessee. The house was moved to the Ames Plantation in 2002, and has extensive stenciling in the hall and parlor which has survived intact for over 175 years. The Stencil House has been recognized by the Tennessee Historical Society, the Center for Historic Preservation, The National Trust for Historic Preservation, and other state and federal agencies and universities as one of the most important stenciled houses in Tennessee.
