Friday’s sale opens with an Architectural Collection formerly of Anna Thompson Dodge’s “Rose Terrace” residence and of Detroit’s Harper Hospital featuring: carved limestone panels, entrance surround, railings, frieze and supports. Other highlights include unique collectibles with a Fisher Body Division plaque from the General Motors Corporation Stamping Plant and three substantial Parke-Davis signs, measuring 33 and 48 inches in diameter. Fine art abounds - over 80 lots! Of interest is an Italian Carved Carrera Marble Sculpture, c. 1900, and an Oil on Canvas titled “Thoughts Far Away” by George Hamilton Barrable (British, d. 1887). A variety of lamps and lighting fixtures are also featured including crystal chandeliers, as well as one Schonbek, and a vividly colored eight-light Murano glass chandelier. Fine jewelry, furniture and carpets are available, as well as a Modern “Super Deluxe” Mahogany Boat.

The Saturday auction opens with a lovely collection of antique French silver and bronze, highlights of which include a gilded tea and coffee set by Henri Gauthier, silver and crystal covered urn by Desiree Toussaint, as well as candelabra, covered urns and a desk set. The sale continues with sterling hollowware by Atkin Bros., Bigelow, Kennard & Co., Gorham, and Jones, Lows & Ball, International ‘Royal Danish’ and Towle ‘French Provincial’ flatware sets; Dale Chihuly and Guyol contemporary glass; Vladimir Pastchenko and Anna Vaughn Hyatt Huntington bronze sculptures. From the Collection of Dr. and Mrs. Irving F. Burton, Pre-Columbian pottery, American Indian, Inuit, antiquity artifacts, and Chinese ivory and lapis carvings—over 60 lots. From a local collector, contemporary sculptures by Robert Wyland, Sherry Sander, Bob Bennett, Loet Vanderveen, Jerry Warner, and others, as well as Steuben presentation pieces, Waterford chandelier and lamps, mahogany furnishings by Drexel, Century, and Wellington Hall, and over 50 Lladro figures. The over 190 selections of fine arts feature: contemporary and modern works by Crash (John Matos), Robert Goodnough, Leroy Neiman, Vicente Viudes, Jean-Pierre Yvaral, seven works by Victor Vasarely (unique and multiple works), Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Joan Miro and Georges Braque; traditional and old master 18th c. to 20th c. pieces by George Loring Brown, Ignaz Unterberger, Douglas Arthur Teed, Oswald Achenbach, Antoine Blanchard, George Carline and James Abbott McNeil Whistler. Jewelry highlights include: an 8.02 ct. sapphire and 4.50 ct. baguette diamond ring, a diamond floral brooch in a platinum setting, Tiffany & Co. diamond, pearl and platinum brooch and a Patek Philippe diamond lady’s wristwatch. Also featured: a Paavo Tynell brass chandelier, an Italian heavily carved 19th c. cassone, William Rogers sterling coffee and tea service, a Kerman 15’ x 11’ carpet, c. 1920 as well as other Oriental rugs and 8 large Chinese carved ivory immortals.
