DuMouchelle’s auction previews are conducted at the gallery for one full week prior to the sale, including a late evening preview on the Wednesday prior to auction until 8:30 p.m. Condition Reports are available to those who cannot view items in person. DuMouchelle’s auction requires no entry fee and free valet parking is available to those attending. Doors open at 5:30 pm on Friday, 10am on Saturday and at 11am on Sunday. Paddle bidding at the auction allows for the most flexibility. But if you’re unable to attend, then phone and absentee bidding services are available - as well as internet bidding via www.liveauctioneers.com. DuMouchelles accepts wire transfers, checks, cash, Mastercard, Visa and Discover card (amount upon approval). A buyer’s premium of 20% is added to each lot purchased (23% when bidding via internet on Live Auctioneers). Please note also that All Sales Are Final. So do take time for previewing or obtaining a condition report. If you have a sales tax exemption certificate, please provide it ahead of time. Should you need to have an item shipped, either locally or out-of state, DuMouchelles can provide you with names of reputable delivery companies.

Friday, August 17th at 6:30 pm

Our August evening sale beings with a lovely offering of fine Venetian Glass, including a set of Enamel Decorated Glass Stemware and Table Ware, 49 pieces, and a Jack-in-the-Pulpit Vase, c. 1900.  The sale moves on to showcase a unique Indian Silver Three Piece Tea Set and a lot of Flatware featuring two manufacturers, Frank Smith Silver Co. and Whiting (Division of Gorham), in “Federal Cotillion” and “King Edward” patterns; and a special offering this month is a Winchester Model 21, Field Grade, Double Barrel, 12 Gauge Shot Gun from 1913.  A large selection of jewelry is available, over 75 lots, which is highlighted by a 5.43 carat Natural Sapphire Ring with 1.40 carats of diamonds, set in 14 kt White Gold.  Fine Art is also prevalent throughout this sale, over 50 lots, including Woodblock Prints by a variety of artists such as Kiyoshi Saito (Japanese, 1907-1997), Hashimoto Okiie (Japanese, 1899-1993), Shuzo Ikeda (Japanese, 1922-2004), Kaoru Kawano (Japanese, 1916-1965), and a work after Hiroshige.  Friday’s sale also offers a unique collection of First Edition and Author signed books on Aviation, including “The Fun of It” by Amelia Earhart, as well as Poetry and Illustrated Children’s books.

Saturday, August 18th at 11:00 am

The Saturday auction opens with a dazzling array of art nouveau glass by Loetz, Steuben, Daum Nancy and Galle followed by an Imperial Russian silver cup inscribed “Imperator’s River Yacht Club 1911”, French decorative arts, and lovely antique and contemporary mahogany furniture.  Additionally from the collection of Oliver T. Weidokal, Birmingham, Rookwood pottery trivets, vases, candlesticks and lamps, and featuring a vellum glazed scenic plaque by Lenore Asbury, as well as.  And from private collectors: 18th century Japanese bronze vases and Chinese porcelains; Tiffany & Co. sterling silver; a Royal Crown Derby ‘Red Aves’ dinner service; Herend ‘Rothschild Bird’ and ‘Fruits & Flowers’ serving pieces; French art nouveau lithographs by Jules Cheret and Georges Meunier; Rolex lady’s wristwatches, fine diamond, aquamarine, emerald, sapphire and pearl jewelry—over 80 lots, and a variety of oriental rugs from semi antique to modern.

Sunday, August 19th at Noon

The Sunday session of the August auction is highlighted by a modern and contemporary arts feature including such artists as:  Chuang Che, Pierre de Mougins, Grace Hardigan, Richard Hamilton, Joan Miro, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Robert Motherwell and William Allen. Other artists in the session of special note are:  Fernand Le Quesne, Nicolas Paliakof, Chabrier, Pierre Henri Dumas, Adolf Kaufman, Jane Peterson, Antonio Jacobsen, Charles Wilson Knapp, Ernest Harrison Barnes, J.J. Audubon (Bowen edition lithographs), Howard Cook and Bruno Zach. Furniture features include Georgian tall and Herschede tall case clocks, a George III chest-on-chest, Viennese 19th c. armoire and a Johnson Hadley Johnson sideboard. Jewelry enthusiasts will be interested in the session’s nice selection including:  an 18kt gold necklace with 10 cts. of diamonds, a Missiaglia diamond and ruby brooch and a 153 ct. cabochon emerald and 20kt gold brooch. Collectors of Oriental rugs will surely find the over 40 offerings in carpet and throw sizes (Kerman, Sarouk, Hamadan, Herez, Nain, Bokhara, Keshan, etc.) to their liking. Finally, of special interest, is a c. 40’ Carver cabin cruiser to be auctioned.
