This Walter & Michelle Chapin Jennings home at this estate sale was designed by architect Marcus Burrowes (1864-1953), who took out the building permit on March 1, 1917 at a cost of $ 41,000.00.  Mrs. Jennings (1882-1954) was the sister of Roy

D. Chapin, Sr. (1880-1936) the Hudson Motor Car Company co-founder and President.  


The Hartt Estate Sales is very pleased to represent and partner with the executor of this Historic Indian Village 8000 square foot Detroit mansion in liquidating the  high quality household contents and the Belle Isle Conservancy - Belle Isle Aquarium to benefit fundraising efforts to celebrate her 108th birthday & reopening on August 18, 2012 and to help sustain the current exhibits.


The Belle Isle Aquarium is the only all volunteer run run aquarium in the country.  The Aquarium was designed by Albert Kahn and opened in 1904.  After 101 years of continuous operation, the Aquarium was closed on April 3, 2005.  Thanks to the Belle Isle Conservancy, the Belle Isle Aquarium has reopened on day per week.  Admission to the Aquarium is free.  Currently the Acquarium's operational expenses are supported solely upon donations.  For more information on how you can support the Aquarium with donations of time or money, please visit the Belle Isle Conservancy at www.BelleIsleConservancy.org  


The Belle-Isle Conservancy-Belle Isle Aquarium representatives will collect a $ 5.00 entrance fee per person to enter this historical residential estate .  The Hartt Estate Sales will also contribute a portion of the profits from the sale of the household contents towards a significant donation to support the Belle Isle Aquarium as a Corporate Sponsor.


The contents include many of the household content items from the the shooting and filming of the movie "Sparkle".
