Carole Arnston is a West Coast-based artist with a multi-faceted background in design and architecture, and who has for twenty years used oil painting as a medium for the powerful messages of the landscape. Arnston has built on the abstract impressionist influences of Bonnard, Frankenthaler, and Joan Mitchell to develop her own style of lyrical abstraction. From her studio perched in the rainforest with an ocean vista, she is exposed to the subtleties of changing skies and rhythms of westerly winds and rains. Hikes into the local mountains, forests and meadows and kayaking up the north coast inspire all her work with sublime joy.
