In the Fall of 1982, Richard realized a life long dream of becoming a business owner. He operated his business, Pere Marquette Sports Center in Ludington for more than 25 years and eventually started up two more businesses, Pere Marquette Bait & Beverage and a costume shop called House of Disguise. Those years also provided the time and circumstance for him to collect many things. His wife was a lab technician and also very active in community groups, sang in choirs and had many hobbies.
