345 Auction is pleased to offer the estate of the late Clyde and Frances Mathews with all proceeds benefiting the Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation. This sale features some wonderful Mid-Century Modern, retro, and antique items. The auction will begin closing on Sunday, November 27th at 7:00 pm, MT. All of the items are located at our Pueblo West location, previews are welcome. Nationwide shipping is available. Clyde and Frances Mathews were longtime residents of Pueblo. They met in Montana while Clyde was beginning his career as a geologist and Frances was finishing her degree as a Nurse. Six months later, they were married and began the life journey that took them from Wyoming to, eventually, Pueblo, where they stayed for 50 years. The journey included several moves and three children whom all graduated from Centennial High School and got degrees from state schools in Colorado. Besides being a geologist, eventually the Head Geologist for CF&I, Clyde had many interests and passions, including skiing, tennis, and golf. Most notably, he was an amazing woodworker and metal artist. Over the years, Clyde built dozens of pieces of furniture, sculptures, and even model ships that will live on in his families' homes for generations. Frances was always passionate about politics and was a talented writer and speaker. She became a well-known Republican Activist in Colorado and even attended the National Convention, where Ronald Reagan was nominated in 1980. She also helped with many campaigns over the years and was the first women Republican Chairwomen in Pueblo County. Clyde and Frances always valued education and made sure their three children had the opportunity for a college degree. They saw the value or working hard, and we think that helping others attain a degree to better their lives will be a great way to honor their legacy.
