THE EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM!!
Starting at 6:00am on opening morning of each estate sale, we give out numbers based on the order in which people arrive and knock on the door. This is only for the first day, not consecutive days. That way if you'd like to get there before the sale starts, then you can come to the front door and get your number. That way, if you’d like to go to breakfast, then you can just come back at 7:45am (15 minutes prior to opening). We’ll make the announcement at 7:45 to line up in order of numbers. However, you definitely do NOT have to get there early for a number if you prefer not to, this is just a convenience for those who want to make sure they get into the house first once we open at 8:00am. If you don’t get a number though, then you will however be at the back of the line, entering behind those who arrived early for numbers.

We sell things on a first come, first serve basis, starting at 8:00am sharp, on the opening morning of each estate sale.

Feb 25-28 we’ll be conducting an extraordinary estate sale, to liquidate the massive collection of stringed instruments etc belonging to the late Charlie Jirousek of Arrowhead Music in Safety Harbor. There’s also all kinds of other antiques throughout the home, as well as luthier tools, tonewoods and associated parts for making musical instruments.

Definition of Luthier: a maker of stringed instruments.

Although Charlie was a master luthier who made stringed instruments, most of these pictured instruments that are coming up for sale are brandname ones, as well as some rarities that Charlie collected over his lifetime.

Some of the instruments for sale include: guitars, ukuleles, banjos, mandolins, banjolins, violins, cellos, zithers, bowed psaltrys, autoharps, accordions, harmonicas, etc...

The estate sale is open to the general public, so anyone can come, and buy as much or as little as they’d like.

______________________

Born in 1941 and raised in Minnesota, Charlie was a luthier as well as a trained forester. He received a Bachelor’s of Science in Forestry from the University of Minnesota. After college he fought forest fires in Arizona and worked as a surveyor. He later worked for Gibson Guitars and lived in California.

In 1972 he moved back to Minnesota and built a house and started a family, as well as his business, Arrowhead Music. In the mid 1980s the family relocated to Florida where Charlie continued his music business for another 33 years.

Over the course of his career Charlie built and repaired stringed instruments for musicians and collectors, nationally and internationally, including a custom guitar he built for Bob Dylan. It was inlaid on the fretboard with the three towns Dylan was most associated with: Hibbing Minnesota, Duluth Minnesota and New York City. Charlie was well-known by many luthiers around the nation as a rare artisan of his trade.

He specialized in repairing antique stringed instruments and building 12-string guitars, mandolins and ukuleles. He was also a musician, a lover of minerals, plants, hunting, fishing, building, traveling, motorcycles, blues, folk, and the natural world.

Charlie was also a longtime member of the Friends of Florida Folk Music and was interviewed in 2007 by Gary Horrell, host of WMNF’s Florida Folk Show. Gary can be seen holding the microphone in some of the pictures. Gary has been kind enough to share and spread the word about this upcoming estate sale on WMNF radio recently.

PARKING: Please look at the parking map and plan accordingly. The street in front of the house is narrow and only has parking in one direction (facing south), on the side of the street that the house is on. Please obey the City signs on the other side of the street that say No Parking This Side of Street. Please park accordingly, and be respectful of neighbor’s driveways as well.

The house is on Third Ave N, just off Main Street in quaint downtown Safety Harbor. You may need to park downtown, just a few blocks away, but it’s a close easy walk from just about anywhere downtown

We’ll have a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Deputy on-site to make sure parking and traffic flow in front of the house goes smoothly.

NOTICE:
Security cameras are in use throughout the house and property.

If you don’t receive a reply to your questions, please understand it’s nothing personal. It’s because of the vast amount of work to still be done. (at the very end of all the pictures are some answers to Frequently Asked Questions)
