Local Artist’s Exquisite Estate Sale
Terms
IMPORTANT! IMPORTANT!! IMPORTANT!!!
PLEASE read all of the following info carefully!!!
This sale will take place in a private residence. The entrance and exit will take place through the front door only.
Acceptable payments will include credit card (through Apple Square), Venmo Business, Personal Check (with valid Driver’s License), and…our personal favorite…cold hard cash! ☺️
!!!!IMPORTANT Sign-Up Procedure!!!!!!!!
• A sign up sheet will be put out by the front door by 6am on the first day of the sale.
• Numbered cards will be handed out exactly ONE HOUR PRIOR to the start of the sale for those who have signed up by that time.
• Each individual who signs up MUST BE PHYSICALLY PRESENT ONE HOUR BEFORE THE START OF THE SALE in order to receive their number card or their position in line will be lost. There can be NO EXCEPTIONS (mechanical problems, traffic, the need for a bathroom stop, “I didn’t know”) and, for the sake of clarity, if you’re walking up to the house to get your number while I’m reading off names and your name has already been read, then you are LATE.…so PLEASE save us both a very uncomfortable and unpleasant situation and make sure you’re on time. [For the record, I will never, EVER begin the handing out of numbers early…not even one minute!].
• The signup sheet will remain by the front door for those who arrive after the numbers have been handed out. If you hope to gain entry to the sale based on your arrival time, then your name must be on the sheet.
• Entrance to the sale will be allowed to those with numbers first (in order, of course!), and subsequently in order by the names listed on the signup sheet, and followed by those who have arrived but didn’t sign up. Please print clearly! I will leave a pen with the sign up sheet, but on cold days, it would be suggested that you also bring your own pen with you to sign up, as the pen I leave may succumb to the weather.
A bid box will be available on the first day of the sale for items priced at or above $25.
NOTE: Bids at or below 50% of the listed price will not be accepted.
This sale is still considered a private estate sale, so the seller cannot be held accountable for items that are defective, missing parts, or otherwise imperfect. It is the responsibility of the buyer to check over their intended purchases prior to payment. All sales are final.
Thank you!
This sale offers a unique opportunity to acquire fine art pieces from the estate of well known local Grand Rapids artist, E. Lynn O’Rourke. Original works in addition to prints of hers will be available…signed and numbered…as well as those by her daughter and son, Colleen & Kevin, who are both also very accomplished artists. E. Lynn O’Rourke is known for her incredible torn paper collage works, which have been featured in Art Prize and adorned the cover of GR Festival Posters. Come and marvel at the painstaking process of utilizing thousands of tiny pieces of paper to create something wondrous!!! Available at this sale are numerous original works by this local legend, including a couple of her early collages, a tribute to the steam boat “Ramona” that used to cruise Reeds Lake in East Grand Rapids, collages with conservation matting and framing, several pastel works of hers, and even a belt buckle she designed! This is a unique, maybe one-of-kind opportunity to acquire a piece of local art history…do NOT miss your chance!
The talent in the O’Rourke family was generously passed down, as evidenced by numerous works by daughter Colleen and son, Kevin. Colleen added a twist to the torn paper collage medium by using vintage sheet music in her renderings. You will find multiple examples of her amazing work at this sale, as well as some of the left over vintage sheet music! Kevin’s work includes some pastel pieces and a number of incredible and unique digitally created posters and advertisements.
Of course, the estate owner had impeccable taste in the art she collected for her home, and this estate is chock full of paintings, sculptures, pottery, music & movie posters, knickknacks, and various forms of artwork from other known local artists. You’ll find a 1973 metal sculpture from Joseph Kinnebrew (who has numerous sculptures downtown and was the designer of the fish ladder). There’s a custom made Nutcracker mask (a replica of the one work by Mikhail Baryshnikov) made by the costume department at the Civic Theatre and worn by Peter Secchia for a news clip. There’s pottery by Reb Roberts (did you know he even did pottery work?), multiple pieces by Dick Stein, an INCREDIBLE metal and 23K gold vessel created by the famous David Huang, and many other fantastic treasures. Additional local artists include Berta, Edward Postma, and Rebecca Shiel.
If art and/or local history is a passion of yours, you do NOT want to miss this sale!!!!!
There is a GREAT deal more than artwork to be found here, however!!! There are some spectacular furniture pieces available, beautiful articles of clothing and shoes, yard art/decor items to cover acres, an awesome gas grill (it’s Spring, right?!?), sterling silverware, stamps, crafting materials, a large metal gun cabinet, dishes (including Fiestaware), a collection of McCoy, Weller, Hull, and Belleek pottery, an amazing book collection, iron and wood outdoor furniture, and SO much more we could hardly display everything in the house! In fact, we couldn’t!!! The garage is filled with furniture and there is a shed loaded with additional goodies. This sale is INCREDIBLE!!!
There’s also a HUGE collection of jewelry…pics of a portion of the motherload have been recently added!
Check out the pics and keep coming back…artist names and additional photos and info will be added to the descriptions as the sale draws closer!
