One of Art’s most unusual sales. He tries every year to have one sale that people will remember and talk about and this seems to be the one for 2021. A well-known developer and real estate mogul with a love for collecting has moved things from his office, his various homes, his storage facility, etc. to one warehouse – but what a warehouse since it is fully air conditioned and has carpeted floors. This was a “years in the making” endeavor that has culminated in a sale that has one of the most interesting mixes we have seen – from Asprey and Coach leather goods all the way to three Mercedes SL tops (two in red and one in blue), collectible pens to well-used filing cabinets, new-in-box gifts and 300 year-old documents. The three day schedule gives you an idea of just how much STUFF there is to sell.
Among the things that are “crowded into the warehouse” you will find:
- Four antique English partner’s desks
- KARGES furniture including night stands, headboard, library cabinets, desks, etc
- BAKER furniture including coffee tables, desks, cabinets, small tables, library cabinets, etc.
- HENREDON furniture including tables, cabinets, chests, small tables, etc.
- Over 80 feet of NEW hanging clothing – shirts, slacks, suit coats, casual, formal, etc.
- Wall art and framed posters
Oil painting of both decorative and collectible nature
Small oil by Edouard Cortes
Oil paintings of great decorative value
Oil paintings that could be considered investment - Autographs, cut signatures and signed documents by
Babe Ruth
Lou Gehrig
Lord Nelson
Napoleon Bonaparte
Lord Wellington (interestingly enough, Nelson defeated Napoleon at Trafalgar and Wellington defeated him at Waterloo)
Ali MacGraw - Documents and indentures from the 1700’s, 1800’s and early 1900’s
- Two antique barrel roll English desks
- Convertible hard tops from SL560 and SL650
- Over 100 collectible and high-end writing instruments (many brand new) including MontBlanc, Waterman, Cross, Caran D’Ache, Pelikan, and others
- Books – some on business, some travel, some design, some just purchased because of value
- Electronics including new in box Bose, JVC, Panasonic, Technics, etc.
- Bronze originals and recasts by various artists
- Antique brass surveyor’s equipment, sighters, heads
- Watch boxes
- Stow-Davis button tufted sofa, three Stow-Davis MCM cabinets, Stow-Davis brass and marble coffee table
- Lamps of every genre from marble to metal, custom to generic, stone to ceramic
- Golf clubs and bags (approximately 700 clubs and 100 bags)
- Filing cabinets – every size and condition
Your spirit of adventure will kick in when we disclose the location of the warehouse. Needless to say, after you pass the fourth gentleman’s club and take a right, you will be in a good warehouse and office district. Not often do we get to say that this sale probably has something for everyone, but this one truly DOES. The photographs tell a good story but can not capture everything that is there.
