Helen Richards Wood Estate in Eufaula (Richards X Roads, Baker Hill Comm) by WIREGRASS ESTATE SALES

Wiregrass Estate Sales is honored to have been chosen to liquidate the estate of Mrs. Helen Richards Wood.  The home is in the Baker Hill community, south of Eufaula. 

The Richards home place was deeded to Helens family in 1836 as a Land Grant from the President of the United States.  Helens father brought the first sugar cane press to the Southeast area.  People came from all around to have their cane pressed and juiced. As a child, Helens job was to lead the mule that turned the press!

Mrs. Wood and her late husband Glenn each held Masters degrees from Auburn University in Biology.  He worked for US Steel in Birmingham and she was a junior high science teacher.  They retired to Helens home place and lived there for 30 years.  They enjoyed gardening and raising cattle.  She belonged to Eastern Star and was Treasurer at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
