Description & Details

This is the estate of Erika Bankston.  Born in Germany she moved to the US at age 20. She loved to travel, garden, craft, fish and crab and was a Fantastic cook. The sale will feature many of her handcrafted items including quilts, as well as some wonderful furniture, lamps, and a large variety of housewares.

Erika decided to go back to school and receive her Degree in Food Service and Dietetics from Faulkner State Junior College and Pensacola Junior College.  She then took a job with Villa Mercy Nursing Home in Daphne then on to work with North Baldwin Hospital in Bay Minette Alabama until she retired in 2000.  She was well known for her home-made yeast rolls and wonderful hospital food where people came from all around just to eat at her cafeteria.

She met a handsome man Richard Rodgers a retired Nasa Engineer and they built a home on Little Lagoon in Gulf Shores Alabama.  She got a part time job teaching Arts and Crafts at the Senior Center in Orange Beach.  She loved  all things home made and hand made.  From a little girl she was taught how to crochet, knit, cook and sew.  Through the years she learned how to craft just about everything else.  Erika taught everyone from locals to Snow Birds how to craft.
