How to Create an Online Account with HIBID.
First , go to highastheskyauctioncompany.hibid.com to create an online account- this is really quick (about one - two minutes), it only needs to be done once, and once you’ve set up an account you can log in easily and bid on any of our auctions.
To get started, go to highastheskyauctioncompany.hibid.com , "Log In/New Bidder" at the top of the screen.
If you have already registered, you can enter your username/email and password to login to your account. If you are a new bidder, click the “New Bidder – Click Here” button to the lower right of the box, then Enter your email address, and again below to confirm it. Once you have done this, click “Check Email Address”.
You will then be asked for your details (the usual name, address, phone number etc) and a username/password to login in future.
Click “Create New Account” button at the bottom. You’ll be prompted to correct any errors or omissions, and once all is OK you’ll get a confirmation message on the screen telling you that your account has been created. That's it - all done!
You are now registered with the website, log into your account, there you can see details of your bidding history, watched lots, and so on; more importantly you can now leave bids!
How to Register for an Auction
All available auction catalogs are listed by clicking on "Current Auctions" on the menu at the top of the screen. For each Auction you will see the Auction Name, details (and if available, a preview image), together with buttons to view full auction information, register, or view the catalog/submit bids.
In order to place bids on an auction, you must click the “register to bid” button, which will prompt you to agree to the terms and conditions of the auction (these can sometimes vary slightly from sale to sale with regards to collection times, locations etc, so you should always read these). If you want to send a message to us to accompany your registration, there is a box for you to add this. Click the box to agree, and then “Submit Registration” beneath.
Important: Our auctions will require credit card information to be added at time of registration, as an extra security measure to prove your address and ID – please be assured that this is securely processed and used to confirm your address details match a valid card. This involves placing a temporary "hold" on an amount of $1 US (one dollar) on your card for up to three days to check that the card is valid.
If you are prompted to add a payment method, you will need to click "add payment method" and enter details of a valid credit or debit card. No payment will be taken from your card unless authorized by you.
You can now bid!
Bids may either be left as auto bids, to be executed on your behalf up to the end of the auction (just click on the bid button on the catalog listing or lot details page), if the auction is an "Online Only" or "Timed" Auction, then you can either bid throughout the auction (the system will send you an email if you are outbid) or BID LIVE against other bidders in the final minutes of the auction by logging in and clicking on the live catalog button which appears for the last thirty minutes of the sale.
Select the auction you want to bid on. Scroll to the lot you wish to place a bid on and choose the “Place Bid” button. A new page will open asking you to confirm your bid. At this point, you may also enter a Maximum Bid which will guarantee you to pay the lowest bid possible to win the item.
What is a Maximum Bid?
A maximum bid is the highest amount you are willing to pay for an item, but also ensures that you will only pay the lowest amount possible to win the item. For example, if you place a bid for $50 and place a maximum bid of $100, you are guaranteed to win the item for any amount between $50 to $100 unless someone bids higher than $100.
What is a Starting Bid?
The starting bid represents the intrinsic value of gold, silver & gemstones and is below manufacturing cost. Retail value of any item is suggested to be a minimum of 4 to 8 times of the starting bid.
What are the bid increments?
Bid increments are the amounts each bid will increase based on the current bid price. The higher the item's value, the higher the bid increments.
What is soft close?
In the event that a bid is placed on an item in the final minutes of an auction sale, the auction will automatically be extended for an additional 1-2 minutes to prevent 'auction sniping'. The extension will continue until all the bids have stopped.
You must be in the live catalog to be able to bid, if you are in the bids/watches tab, it will not take your bid.
