The lovely lady that moved from this home to a nursing facility, lost her family home as a young girl in Leopold, Germany, when Germany was split between east and west, in 1948. They could either become communists, or leave their home, land and all their belongings. Leaving only with the clothes on their backs, they headed to Berlin to the Air lifts, where she met her future husband a U.S. serviceman in the Air Force. After living at many air force bases abroad and in the U.S., this lady, her Air Force husband and their seven children settled in Glen Rose, Arkansas as it reminded her of her homeland. This family has served our country very well, as the father and four of the seven children, served in the U.S. armed forces. Totaling approximately 130 years service! The actual story of ths lady was a little more harrowing as she was 15 years old at the time the Russians began occupying Germany. Her parents sent her out with a knap sack across East Germany to safety as the Russians were already removing young people from homes to go back to Russia to work in the factories. I will have copies of her recollection of the events for you to take home with you!!
