Lifetime accumulation sale at the VanHook home on the Searcy Country Club golf course. This prominent family had lots of interests, including golf, original art, antiques, Western Americana and local history. The sale features high-end furnishings -- desks, china cabinets, buffets, armoires, chests, tables, wool rugs, hall trees and Massoud chairs. The late Alvin VanHook and his wife Louise VanHook owned and operated Van-Atkins Department Store in downtown Searcy from 1954 to 1998, and there are several collectible items from Van-Atkins history: Antique wooden doors, shoe-department chrome chairs, ceiling panels, ice-cream shop, catalogs from the 1980s. There is an antique wooden desk and wooden rolling chair. There's a library table, a hand-painted tile-topped coffee table signed by the artist OJ Lund, two framed John Wayne prints and a John Wayne doll. There are leather-bound ledgers from the old Robbins Sanford Mercantile in downtown Searcy. Mrs. VanHook, now retired, has a closet full of vintage clothes and accessories, including a Bensky Furs mink bomber jacket and maxi dresses from the 1970s. From the children's attic, there are metal lunchboxes, a slot car set, Alvin and the Chipmunks glasses, board games, and a Dishonest John talking puppet (Bob Clampett, Beany & Cecil).  A formal dining room is fully furnished with vintage silverplate, Gorham crystal, fine china, India brass, and cut glass. There are dozens of collectible books and sets, including first edition John Grisham books, boating journals, cookbooks and local history books. We have  vinyl records (33 and 78rpm), costume jewelry, novelty golf items and Brown Jordan patio furniture. Also, there is a collection of Fiesta dishes, two sets of mid-century pattern dishes, vintage bar ware, a dozen sets of golf clubs, and more. Bedroom and living room furniture for sale include a King bed, a highboy dresser, antique armoire and full bed frame with wooden rails.
