Lot of 3 Stone Fossils of Plants & Fish Slab of ancient fish fossil with written name "Xyne grex sisquoc diatomite", some information found is as follows: 'During the Miocene an apparent spawning catastrophe wiped out millions of herrings in a shallow bay located off the coast of California, just north of present day Santa Barbara. This plate comes from that thin deathbed horizon located 950 above the bottom of the exposure. The plate and formation consist primarily of diatomaceous earth. Upon it are one complete and seven large partial herrings. The preservation is typical of the fossils found at this location.' This particular slab measures 13" length x 5.25" width. Stone fossil with leaves or some type of plant on it, measures about 4.5" across. Nicely cut fish fossil of possibly "Gosiutichthys", measures 5.5" length x 4.25" width.
