Ames 1860 Model Cavalry Sword, Civil War Era:
Made by the Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee Massachusetts this 1860 model US cavalry sword is in exceptionally good condition. The 34" blade is in exceptionally good condition w/ some environmental damage and is marked AMES MFG CO -- CHICOPEE -- MASS; US -- ADK -- 1862 [ADK is the inspectors initals for A.D.King], fits firmly in the hilt, which along with the grip is also firm. The grip leather is a little worn in places, the ring bindings are complete (possible replacement).
The scabbard is in very good condition with some patina and small dents. A very good example of this famous American civil war sword.
