Dear Friends, Save the date for Catherine's Estates three day sale!  It is like no other sale before; our largest collection ever of fine art and collectibles under one roof.  February 5-7, from 8am-4pm in a home by Oracle and Magee. Address will be in paper and on web on sale day or look for our signs.  The estate was amassed by an eccentric retired colonel, who could best be described as a hoarder with an eye for the exquisite. The treasures are vast. Over a thousand paintings have been collected from all over the world.  There’s fine art, fun art, and something special just for you.   There is more artwork than wall space, so come prepared for the hunt!  Some items will be priced, but some items will be set to move based on a price by the square inch value.  We are still looking, but to date have found originals by Ross Stefan, Santos Barbosa, James Nichols, Dirk Van Driest, Mark Daniels, Nick Wilson, Richard Thomas, and many, many, many more.  There is an Alex Calder Circus Performer Lithograph series from 1930, a Thomas Hart Benton signed lithograph, and a Picasso watercolor that is going to make me do some serious research.  There are many fine examples of Classic European paintings, Chinese watercolors, and Japanese woodblock prints.  The list goes on and on… And on.  Are you an aspiring artist?  There are hundreds of empty frames for you that range from miniature to Baroque Gilded examples.  Our colonel was a colorful character who had his pilot buddies load up the hold of their B-52s to bring back treasures stateside.  There's an important collection of Santos figures from Spain and Mexico, a room full of Russian and Byzantine Icons, Faberge eggs, hand painted Russian lacquer boxes, and indulgences of all types.  Another room has been set aside for the bronzes.  Many are inspired from Classical statuary, Western, and Egyptian art. To honor Henry Moore we have a 1950 replica of his famous Rocking Chair bronze plus a large collection from contemporary artists Beryl Goodnight and Nick Wilson.  Walk like an Egyptian through our collection of Egyptian statuary and stare at scarab after scarab.  Numerous Native American and South of the Border wonders feature fetishes, ironwood, Oaxacan wood carvings, Tonala ceramics, Santa Clara, San Ildefonso pottery, and more Mata Ortiz pottery than the Mata Ortiz –with signed examples from Juan Quezada and other notable artists. All are exceptional.  Dealers and designers, this is your chance to buy in bulk.  There's a fine collection of Tiffany style lamps, Western Cowboy art, cigar store Indians, and decorative art figurines.  Pressed glass, majolica, and talavera pottery round out the collection.  The good stuff doesn’t stop at the door.  Outside you’ll find garden art, plants, pottery, and garden furniture.  If you're so inclined, you are invited to dig up some of the specimen golden barrel cacti to add to your yard. The house is heavy on art and light on furniture, but there are wonderful cabinets from Mexico and China; a yellow damask couch, two Chinese revival corner chairs, and a white French provincial bedroom set.  Display your new collections in one of several choice display cabinets.  There is an unusual collection of Italian Carrara marble tables and bookcases too.  Be prepared to be amazed! Plan for several visits because that's what it's going to take to take all this in.  It has been an ambitious undertaking and will be a treat for you.  Don't miss this sale! Oh, you have to miss this sale? If you are afar and see something you like, call or email and we will arrange the shipping for you.  520-299-4481 or estateartantique@aol.com.  Call now, operators are standing by!    Ciao, Catherine
