Mark your calendars for our next sale, April 25-27, 8am-4pm, at a cozy home in the Catalina Vista neighborhood near the Arizona Inn (address revealed the evening before the sale or look for our signs from Grant & Campbell). A treasure trove of astonishing art and eclectic collectibles await!
This estate is an eclectic lineup of fine art, fun art, and something extraordinary for everyone. There is more artwork than wall space, the house and backyard are filled, so come prepared for the hunt! There are Japanese woodblock prints by Utagawa Hiroshige, Chinese prints, Cuernavaca paintings, an Op Art “Love Machine” lithograph, works by King Kuka, Annie Coe, Abraham Mauricio Salazar, Wallace Nutting prints, the list goes on and on!
The abundance continues with a fine collection of Chinese lacquer ware, inlay, lacquer boxes, snuff bottles, netsukes, a thousand butterfly plate, etc. Prepare to be wowed by the pottery collection, featuring a monumental Peruvian Shipibo-Conibo figural effigy vessel and an impressive lineup of Mata Ortiz pottery featuring works by Efrain Lucer, Lucy Mora, Nicholas Ortiz, and other renowned artisans. Add to that an assemblage of Guanajuato and Day of the Dead ceramics and Talavera tiles, and you’ll find more pottery than a than a kiln could dream of! Native American and South of the Border wonders feature carved Zuni fetishes, exotic Mexican masks, Tonala ceramics, Santa Clara and San Ildefonso pottery, Kachina figures, Papago, Pima, and Tarahumara baskets, and indulgences of all types.
Dealers and designers, this is your chance to buy. There is yellow ware, glazed brown ceramic pottery pieces, and so much more. We have pressed glass, we have colored glass, we have cobalt, mulberry, and even uranium glass—your collection just got brighter. There’s also a Tiffany Iris stained glass panel because at Catherine’s Estates we have glass with class. Jewelry lovers you are in luck because we have a four-carat blue topaz ring in platinum (with a diamond bezel for extra sparkle) and an antique gold coin pendant that pairs an 1852 Liberty $2.5 dollar coin with an 1852 Coronet dollar coin. The furniture is a diverse mix that blends a Victorian three-drawer chest with a Chinoiserie coffee table with inlaid cloisonné medallions, a corner mahogany cabinet, a pine breakfront, and an oak library table. Most of the furniture is mid-century and includes a teak cabinet, floor lamp, oak bookcase, oak coffee table, oak desk, and a set of teak side chairs with rush seats. Miscrosuede sofa and two barrel chairs originally purchased from Copenhagen.
There are books of all types, nostalgic advertising pieces, and more surprises. The shelves are also filled with CDs, DVDs, and a TON of vinyl records! Audiophiles take note, we have JBL speakers, Sony, Phillips, Carver receivers, amplifiers, and vintage Peavey guitar amps and sound equipment. We have an impressive collection of rocks, minerals, things that might glow in the dark, with research equipment and a Geiger counter to help you figure it all out.
The good stuff doesn’t stop at the door. Outside you’ll find garden art, pottery, and garden furniture. Heavy metal fans, we have the wrought iron! Whether it is a plant hanger, a fireplace screen, a mid-century tile and wrought iron vanity table and bench, we have ironworks that are priced to move! The house is small but plan for several visits because that's what it's going to take in order to take it all in!
