Elegant jewelry can enrich one’s life. Elegant jewelry is the most important element in dressing up oneself. It makes one feel complete. A necklace with matching earrings dazzles the image in your mirror. The admiration from friends made acquiring the jewelry well worth it. I, Dorothy Ng, is a California licensed civil engineer, specialized in computer simulation of structural behavior when under loading. After retired from technical work I opted to build a second career in jewelry making in Carlsbad, California. Same as all structures, jewelry has 3-dimensional entities: A. The 1st Dimension is materials includes various species of gemstones, Swarovski crystal, and designed glass; B. The 2nd-Dimension is colors includes numeral hue; and C. The 3rd-Dimension is shapes includes round, teardrop, oval, etc. Taking an element from each category of dimension, a beautiful jewelry could be made. I have designed and handmade over 1,800 exquisite and labor intensive necklaces that were decorated with patterns of crystal balls, cherry blossoms, chevron nets, or spiral ropes. Multiple strings of gemstones can exaggerate the fullness of a piece. I have started to submit my necklaces to Del Mar County Faire for competition since 2019. A total of five necklaces were awarded at various ranks. They are displayed at the estate sale. Indian symbol Pearl cherry blossom Amethyst layer Laced hematite Chevron net In current year the Hematite Chevron Net was awarded first place in the Seed Bead Category while the Laced Hematite was awarded first place in the Strung Bead Category. The San Diego Bead Society awarded $25 to each of the first placed winning necklace. As shown in the following ensembled artwork of globe, rainbow, and clouds, it took 115 beads to string the 3-dimension crystal ball (the clear water/green earth globe). It took multiple colors of beads to build the colorful rainbow. The cloud was wrapped in gold wires. The ribbons say: “We build a green earth. The rainbow will follow”. This simple artwork constitute the basic appreciation of this elaborate earthy pendant
