Vintage Ceramic Tall Christmas tree
The Russian Paper-Mache cigar/cheroot holder is 19th century but in addition also has the Russian Imperial family Crest in the interior of the top. This was brought over by my Dad when he escaped Russia in 1917-1918 His father, my grandfather, was then doctor to Czar Nicolas‘s younger brother who suffered from TB. The case has the Imperial Russian eagle inscribed inside. I do not know who owned this case, but it is likely my Grandad received it from someone in the Czar’s family. My Dad immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1920’s and after working for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Fire Arms became a U.,S. Secret Service agent in the 1930s. He retired from the Secret service in 1974 having traveled the world with six (6) Presidents.
