Born in Guyana and raised in London studying music and keys, he moved to the blossoming 1950s New York Jazz scene igniting his passion for Vinyl. Becoming a regular guest at places like the Blue Note and Vanguard, he brushed elbows with the best Jazz musicians in the world.
While in New York, he focused on playing keys and collecting Jazz records. Every Tuesday morning, he’d hit up the local record stores and shop the New Arrivals. The result is a magnificent record collection during the Hard Bop era of Jazz. He dove even deeper into Jazz. Live Music weekly by night and buying the best of the best Vinyl by day, accumulating 1000s of rare records along the way.
3 decades later, he moved to Southern California and brought many of his favorite records with him – approximately 700 of which The Record Parlour had the honor of purchasing from his Estate this week. Pound for pound one of the best Jazz Collections we’ve ever seen an individual put together.
