3 Stunning Estates Featured at 3-Day Hancock Park Sale Event
MORE PHOTOS COMING SOON, PRESALE AVAILABLE
We invite you to join us for what is sure to be an exciting event in Hancock Park. The sale will begin at 8am and go until 3pm each day from July 19-21, inclusive with presale appointments available July17-18 (see additional details further down this page).
We are honored to be featuring many treasures from the estate of the late (and great!) 1960s model and heiress to a portion of the Seeman’s Private Blend tobacco family fortune, Nancy Jo Dollinger, neé Seeman. Nancy lived an epic life, touring and partying her way around Europe in the 1960s-70s with her close pals David Bowie & The Rolling Stones, and Stateside in the 70s-80s with Led Zepplin! She did some modeling in those days, supplemented by her $10k monthly family stipend. Nancy’s items include stunning and iconic fashions from the late 1800s-present day featuring tons of 1920s silk velvets, fabulous mini dresses and amazing 1970s glam rock pieces, gorgeous Art Nouveau & Art Deco statues and lamps, an amazing worse for wear folding Gucci garment bag (oh, the stories of hotel room parties this bag could tell if only it spoke!), assorted silver-plated bowls and plates by makers such as Tiffany. We are still inventorying this estate and there will be more yet to be revealed… including the pièce de résistance for this sale: an iconic authentic June 16-18, 1967 Monterey International Pop Festival poster! This is the real deal, in good condition and expected to sell quickly given the rareness of the item and its place as a seminal moment in Rock history. This was the concert that cemented so many names in iconic status, including Janis Joplin and Jimmy Hendrix. The story goes that The Who famously argued with the promoters that they did not want to go on after Hendrix because they knew no one could top him! The graphics on this piece are recognized as a high point in the work of Tom Wilkes, and these were printed in a stunning all-metallic finish. From Wikipedia: “Wilkes was art director for the Monterey International Pop Festival in 1967. Monterey was the first widely promoted rock festival in the world, and subject of an acclaimed documentary movie entitled Monterey Pop by D. A. Pennebaker. Wilkes designed all the print material for the festival, including the 80-page program book.” He also designed the poster, of course.
We will also be selling items from two antique store owners’ estates that will include a LOT of fine art paintings, bronzes, prints, pottery, handbags, MCM items, Asian collectibles, Navajo & vintage jewelry, a diamond anniversary multi-stone ring with great sparkle, china, silver, and much more! Highlights include signed lithographs from Chagall, Erté, and Icart (etching) and more, as well as original signed art from Brenda Howell, Jessica Rice, Barbara Johnson, and many more! We will also have furniture including a Paul Frankl Credenza, and Armenian, Moroccan & Persian rugs.
Pottery includes Bauer dishware and pots, Roseville, Rookwood, Van Briggle, and Frankoma decorative pieces, Acoma and Pre-Columbian works. Garden items like small and medium sized pots, standing planters and hanging planters and other outdoor decor. There is also a 50 year old Staghorn Fern available for sale.
For those interested in clothing and accessories, we will have handbags galore as well as tons of 1920s-1970s high end and iconic ladies clothing from makers such as Biba, Paraphernalia, and lots of handmade couture/custom quality. A nice small collection of Army officer's field and dress uniform pieces (circa 1960s-70s?), and a lovely tuxedo (sm to med size for these menswear pieces), and a fantastic quality cashmere/wool blend sports jacket in a large size. We also will have various newer designer styles and some haute couture from the 1980s to present day.
We have books, books, and more books: vintage, literature, collectible, signed by author, first editions, rare & unique, gardening, travel, decor, and many art books. Taschen & Rizzoli as well as some special historical books. Also historical photos of Los Angeles… some photos dating back as far as the 1890s!
Presale appointments for serious buyers at sticker price of select items (from the Hancock Park estate), and for higher ticket items only from the other two estates ($300+) will be available starting the afternoon Wednesday, July 17. Please schedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance, and be aware that these appointments are for purchases only (not for browsing items). We are happy to send photos of specific items if available upon request. To schedule, please reach out to us at (310) 765-7360 via text or phone call (text is appreciated). PLEASE NOTE: Presale appointments may be at a different location than the actual sale depending on items of interest.
