Description & Details

This weekend, we are pleased to present the collection of Larkin and Violet Teasley. Set inside their beautiful family home of 55 years in the Baldwin Hills Estates neighborhood, the assortment was lovingly assembled over their lives and love story together.

From the family: Larkin Teasley, born in Cleveland, OH went to college in Nashville at the age of 15; a math genius who spent his early professional life computing trajectories to the moon in the space program until hitting the glass ceiling of an all-white world. He left for the historic black-owned insurance company, Golden State Mutual Insurance company where he climbed from actuary to Chairman & CEO, where upon meeting Violet—a secretary from Panama—he told her he had long ago seen her in a dream. Violet arrived in the U.S. from Panama when she was 22, carrying only a paint set, hat box and a tennis racket. She became an accessories and jewelry designer, running Maud Designs with her youngest daughter Laura. Violet and Larkin married soon after meeting at Golden State Mutual, traveled all over the world together for 60 years until their respective deaths, leaving their daughters, Lisa, a writer and painter, Erica, who works in philanthropy and Laura, a jewelry designer.
