Description & Details
Handle With Care invites you to a three-day SALE/event
at the bungalow retreat of renowned American director-producer Milton Katselas (1933-2008)
Los Angeles 90035
Fri. Evening Dec. 6, from 4 - 9 PM and Sat., Sun., Dec. 7, 8, from 10 AM - 3 PM
Milton Katselas was a charismatic force who celebrated life head on. He directed the greats—from Eileen Heckart (in her Oscar-winning role), to Bette Davis, Al Pacino, Elizabeth Taylor, and Richard Burton. A beloved acting coach, he launched a generation of Hollywood stars. At his famed acting studio, The Beverly Hills Playhouse, Milton nurtured young talents including Gene Hackman, George Clooney, Tom Selleck, and Michelle Pfeiffer.
In the midst of his very public life, Milton pursued his other great love — the art of painting, sculpture, and assemblage. He was a modernist who explored new forms and media and exhibited his art in L.A., New York, Tokyo, and Paris.
From Milton’s bungalow retreat—a structure he architecturally customized—Handle With Care now offers a wealth of treasures saved from his very large West Hollywood home. These are items Milton kept around him to recharge his energy and recenter his creative force.
Milton believed in his heart, that all people and their dreams were worth rehabilitating, as well as the objects around us
As well as Milton’s colorful and compelling abstracts, metal sculpture, and collages, you have the opportunity to purchase art Milton personally selected, by Tamayo, Richard Lindner, Laddie John Dill, Ben Shahn, and Bernard of Hollywood. Choose a massive Antique Chinese Vessel, an original Seguso sculpture, a chaise in the style of Le Corbusier, a handmade Antique Western saddle, a 1960’s Blackman and Cruz “Industrial Art” coffee table, or Milton Katselas’ favorite armchair. ……and so much more…..
Don’t miss the chance to make a personal connection with one of theater, film and the arts' most fascinating lives.
