John Moran Auctioneers' Summer 2026 Art of the American West auction, a two-day event featuring 434 lots highlighted by works from Oscar Howe, Eanger Irving Couse, Kathryn Woodman Leighton, Curt Walters, Gunnar Widforss, James Swinnerton, Boyd Elder, and others, alongside bronzes by Charles M. Russell, Glenna Goodacre, Fritz White, Sid Burns, and Dan Namingha. Additional offerings include Native American textiles, fetish carvings, Arts and Crafts furniture, and Art Nouveau decorative arts. A capsule collection from Owens Valley collector Robert Schaefer (1942–2024), include baskets from the Washoe, Paiute, Mono, Tubatulabal, Panamint Shoshone, Yokuts, California Mission, and Apache traditions. Selections of Pueblo pottery and Southwest jewelry from the collection continue into Day 2. Together, the two sessions offer an exceptional survey of Native American and Western artistic traditions from the nineteenth century to the present day.
