The estate of a UCLA/Rutgers physicist. Inside this contemporary home in
Pacific Palisades you'll find Navajo rugs, a selection of Indian artifacts,
lots of art books, works by listed artists including a lithograph signed in pencil
by Marc Chagall, large abstract oil by Julie Hedrick, original oils, watercolors
and art pieces, Baccarat crystal, Persian rug, Francis Nowicki wrought
iron candlesticks, Modernica daybed and coffee table, vintage mid-century lamps,
boxes of books on physics, history, art exhibitions and catalogs, plus several
antiquarian books, including a 1730 issue of "Paradise Lost," signed work by Eugene
O'Neill, and two 1806 volumes by Benjamin Franklin.
A highlight is Michael Graves custom-designed bedroom furniture built
during their father's tenure at Rutgers. As his daughter has noted:
"Michael (Graves) did design them, specifically for
our house in Princeton. Graves' carpenter bought stock cabinets from
Workbench, modified them to match Graves' design, including the specially
designed legs and front handles, as well as the custom color."
There are a pair of bronze buddhas, native American collectibles, Navaho carpets,
quality kitchen ware including La Cruzette pots, Gensu flatware, and a garage full
of fun stuff. including tools, electronics, and so much more.
