Once-in-a-lifetime estate sale of two collectors who have lived in the same 5000 sq ft home on the Arroyo since the 1970s. Their passion for collecting was wide and varied and included vintage and antique toys and games, collectibles from their world travels, over 2,000 pop-up books, many of which are 1st edition and out-of-print. There are antiques and collectibles, studio pottery, vintage and antique furniture, vintage and contemporary custom-made clothing, vintage and antique art, vintage Christmas decorations, architectural salvage, and a full cook's kitchen.
Vintage and antique toys and games dating from the late 1800's to the 1990's: Including but not limited to Marx, Lehmann, Schoenhut, Schuco, McLoughlin Brothers, Parker Brothers, various vintage Japanese and German tin toys as well as various antique key-wound toys, topsy-turvy doll, and other hand made cloth dolls.
World art and artifacts: The couple lived in Japan during the 1960's and traveled extensively after that. They brought back treasures from their far and wide travels including but not limited to artwork, dolls, toys, and other trinkets. Various Ocumicho Mexican sculptures. Various African items including a xylophone, Balinese puppets, Southesat Asian batik fabric and pillows, and east Indian fabrics, baskets, among other items.
Over 2000 pop-up books and other mechanical and movable books: Including 1000's of out of print and 1st edition pop-up books from the early 20th century to the 2000s. Vintage Christmas pop-up books, vintage and contemporary Halloween pop up books, Robert Sabuda, Matthew Reinhart, Kubasta, Pienkowski. Subjects include art, architecture, literature, fairy-tales, science, early childhood, Russian, Eastern European, Japanese, French, and others. These were not books that collected and were not read. Most are in excellent or like new condition.
General antiques and collectibles: Vintage and antique typewriters, folk art scultpures, whirligig, bent-wire ferris wheel and swingset, Art Deco sculptures, antique andirons and other fireplace accessories, antique cast iron door stops, bookends and decor, vintage cast iron banks and door stops, vintage easel, vintage painted cradle, vintage and antique bisque dolls, antique National Cash Register, vintage porcelain street sign, 6ft tall painted pegasus, antique painted wall clocks, vintage Seiko wall clock, antique miniature warehouse, Daniel Zuloaga painted framed tile, Puente del Arzobispo painted ceramic plates.
Studio pottery: A large table of ceramics and studio pottery, some individual pieces, some sets, some signed and some unsigned. Includes plates, platters, bowls, vases, mugs, cups, etc. from the 1970's-1990's.
Vintage and antique furniture: Antique Chinese high-back carved chair, vintage Chinese corner chair, antique 5 drawer English dresser, two antique swivel stools, 4 Charles Pollack for Knoll executive chairs (one in leather), two glass top custom tables made from antique wrought iron architectural elements, antique wooden bench, two large glass display cabinets with cubicles and lighted bases, Monterey style tile top table, low table made from leaded glass door, Asian small cabinet, various primitive furniture, antique dining table, vintage Arts and Crafts sideboard, 10 oak upholstered dining chairs, antique leather top desk, oak claw foot dining table, four wooden dining chairs, large mission-style oak table, and an early 1900's oak library table.
Clothing: Vintage and contemporary custom-made clothing along with vintage children's clothing, many custom-made from the 1970s and 1980s. For the women's clothing, many sets, blouses, interesting silks and wools and ethnic pieces, jackets and coats, shoes, purses, and scarves.
Art: Including but not limited to original paintings, some signed and some unsigned, from the 1920s,30s and 40s; lithographs and prints, two bold and large oil paintings by Dan Schupe; "Cyrk Cyrk" poster by Waldemar Swierzy, 1972; religious art including antique painting of the Trinity; Armando Ortega Orozco painting, 1960s; Ben Sakoguchi lithograph; various lithographs; primitive painting with folk art frame; Gorki Bollar painting; unframed posters, prints and lithographs; Sister Mary Corita lithographs and prints; Michael Garman diorama, 1970s.
Vintage Christmas decorations: vintage lighted animatronic reindeer; boxed sets of Christmas cards; vintage blown glass ornaments, some in original boxes; vintage and contemporary Christmas pop-up books; nutcrackers; vintage large nativity scene.
Architectural salvage: various vintage and antique pieces of architectural salvage; knobs, drawer pulls, glass shades.
