The Kachina collection of the late Thomas Empey (1946-2016) was assembled out of love and respect for the Native American culture and beliefs. His fascination began as a child growing up in southern Utah and culminated in this lifetime collection. A thorough record of each item underscores his passion for the traditions of the Hopi and other western tribes from which they derive. His curation emphasizes family lineage of artists as Kachina doll carving is passed on from one generation to the next. These carefully chosen figures exemplify uniqueness, quality and creativity of each selectively chosen artist. What resulted, is a well crafted collection that represents the most revered of the past tradition and the most promising of the future of this sacred artform. Exclusively on Bidsquare.
