Great and Unique Mid Century Estate Sale in the Land Park Area

- This weekend we are proud to offer the Estate of the late Charles M. Weber, III, grandson of one of the early pioneers of the California Gold rush, Captain Charles M. Weber, I, the founder of Stockton. Captain Charles M. Weber was a German immigrant who came to California on the Bidwell-Bartelson Party in 1841. He decided to try his hand at gold mining in late 1848 but soon discovered serving the needs of gold-seekers was a more profitable opportunity. He then founded Stockton in 1849 when he purchased over 49,000 acres of land in what is now San Joaquin County.  His grandson, Charles M. Weber, III, graduated from St. Mary’s college in 1913, and got his master’s degree in civil engineering from Cornell University in 1915. Charles served as an aviator in the US Navy during World War I, and pursued various groundbreaking civil engineering projects during the 1920s and 1930s. During and after World War II he represented San Joaquin County in the State Assembly. His subsequent work for the Captain Weber Memorial Foundation is vital to our understanding of California water issues today. He also played a leading role development of north Stockton.
