Howard and Dru Alphson lived in this magical home for over fifty years.  Howard purchased it from the wife of the original owners, the Parkinson's.  At the time Howard and Dru were able to purchase this home, it had not been lived in for ten years.

It was run down and over grown.  All of the Alphson's family belongings were stored in the living room, along with a hot plate for cooking and a coffee pot, while they upgraded the living quarters to move in.  For months the family brushed their teeth at the front spigot and said good morning to the numerous workmen.

Howard's family came over from Norway to North Dakota, Born in 1919, Grand Forks ND, he was the oldest of six children.  He served in WW11 and the Korean War before putting himself through Harvard.  He became a Tax Attorney and a self made Real Estate Developer.  Howard worked until he was 96.  Dru came from English Dutch decent.  She was born outside of Boston, Mass in 1926, and the youngest of three sisters.  The family moved to New Hampton, NH when she was 12.  She became a social worker in Boston and later went into Real Estate in Santa Monica.  She had originally come to California to visit her middle sister, who lived in Palm Springs.  She and her sister went on a double date, where she met Howard.  Six weeks later she sold her return train ticket and married the man of her dreams.

They adopted three children and in 1966 they moved into this home where they lived out their lives. They were blessed to travel the world and entertain their lovely friends with lovely parties.  Howard passed away in 2015 and Dru followed him three years later in 2018.
