RARE, ONE OF A KIND: Malcolm Moran (1923-2011) “Girl on Bicycle” Steel Metal Sculpture It is 10 inches long, 15 inches wide, and a very high 47 inches tall. Its valuation in 1976 was $15,000.00 / Our client purchased this sculpture directly from the artist in 1996 (we have the purchase receipt)
FYI: Information has been discovered in President Ford’s Library Archives. This original sculpture was on display as décor during a White House State Dinner for Israeli Prime Minister Rabin & His Wife, held on 01/27/1976 and was hosted by President Ford and his wife. FROM THE PRESIDENTIAL ARCHIVES: “This sculpture, unlike the other unique sculptures, is made of steel. It depicts a girl on a bicycle, as its title suggests. Mr. Moran created this sculpture eighteen years ago (1958) and it remains in his own personal collection. He actively keeps it in his collection as he does not wish to part with it”
ANOTHER FANTASTIC SCULPTURE IN THIS SALE WILL BE: Gary Hughes (1930-2016) “High Wheeler” ca.1977-78, (61” x 33”) bronze statue with custom patina applied by the artist for our client. The statue was cast at the New Arts Foundry, Baltimore MD. Our client purchased this sculpture in 1978 (we have the purchase receipt)
