The House That Time Forgot

Cobblestone Too! is proud to bring its customers another fantastic sale, the best to-date in the city. Nestled in Capitol Hill, this is a massive home simply stuffed to the gills with the best for everyone. From exquisite Vintage clothing to centuries-old books to one-of-a-kind collectibles, this home has it. In no short order, this is the biggest sale of the most unique stuff since the Log Mansion sale nearly a year and a half ago.

We've uncovered artwork in the attic wrapped in papers from 1914. We've found items we've only seen once or twice in our lengthy history of business...this is a home of selective collectors that indulged in the finest and kept their home as it was for nearly a century.

Very prominent family deeply rooted in Denver and Colorado history. Excerpt from History of Colorado, Illustrated by The State Historical & Natural History Society 1927 Printing;

Robert Yardley Force

Robert Yardley Force, one of Denver's honored pioneers who was long an active factor in municipal government, had been a resident of the city for thirty-eight years when called to his final rest. He was born in Bucks county, Pennsylvania on the 15th of June, 1847, the son of Zephiniah and Rachel (Balderson) Force. His education was acquired in his native county and in the public schools of Philadelphia. He followed the profession of teaching in the Keystone state prior to coming overland to Colorado in 1867, when a young man of twenty years, and here he continued his work as an educator, becoming Denver's second teacher. Mr. Force also devoted his attention to the feed business for a time. To him likewise belonged the credit for the organization of the Denver volunteer fire department one of the branches of the city government and put fireman under pay. He became a member of the police force in 1880, when that body numbered but three men.

Almost immediately following his arrival in Colorado, Mr. Force took an active part in political affairs. He served as constable for six years and was three times elected councilman from the second ward. He fathered many measures of importance to the community, notable among these being the bill providing for the purchase of three hundred twenty acres to be used for a city park and the bill for the erection of the city hall. He was one of the original member of the Board of Trade and a charter member of of the Chamber of Commerce. His military record covered service with the local militia company in the days of the Territorial Guards. The efforts of Mr. Force constituted an important factor in municipal welfare and advancement and in his passing the city sustained the loss of one of its most valued and respected residents. He belonged to the Society of of Friends (Quakers) and fraternally was affiliated with the Masonic Order and with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. His death occurred on the 9th of April, 1905, when he was in his fifty eight year of age.
