H&K Estate Sales

Description & Details

This home holds a very special meaning to me and my husband in particular. Howard and the home owner connected years ago when they met at another neighbors estate sale ( she loved how Howard set up the garage--go figure ) and for some reason Howard made it a point to keep in touch with her. From that point forward we have been introduced to all the family that lives in the surrounding Denver area, so this is family to us and we want to make this sale very special for all of them.

We have learned of SO MANY wonderful stories that I would like to share some of them with all of you.

She was a daughter of WWII navy vet ( have a WWII Sweetheart Bracelet ) and the military stayed with her , her entire life. Married to a military man - her children were Air Force and her niece was Air Force. Active with the VFW and supported the Veterans with hours of volunteer work.

Her grandmother lived in the first unofficial one room school house in Englewood Co., we have some books. Her grandfather was a painter and in 1908 helped paint the Capital Building's dome gold, at the sale are some of his paints and the cheese boxes he used to house them in. Her parents ran a gas station, general store and motel in OK. This was at the time of prohibition so her dad, who didn't agree with prohibition ran moon shine out the back of the store, there's an old bottle that may have been his. She wished she could have gone with her dad for those high speed runs across state lines but this is where her mother put her foot down with a NO! She did however get to go fishing with her dad and we have the old fishing poles. Her dad's fine clothing, wool suits, were made into quilts, one is at this sale. Candy at the general store was sold out of counter jars with red lids, they are here. We have her hope cedar chest given for her marriage and her pink glassware that was a special anniversary gift. So much history to share

Her Uncle Walker, nicknamed because of a car accident the 2nd day of driving, decided to never drive again and walked everywhere from then on-- therefore Walker. Quirky man I am told, inventor-avid reader-photographer-artist-mason-pipe smoker, (we have the pipes) and tool maker. We have a number of antique and vintage tools that the family attributes to both Walker and George , husband of this home.

Between our owner being OCD, and fastidious, with a husband that was a mechanic in the Army and an Uncle who made tools this home has a lot of love put into it. You will feel it as soon as you step through the front door.
