Description & Details
Art & Advertising Online Auction
Step into a remarkable offering sourced from the former owner of a 1980s New York City art gallery and a prestigious Greenwich, CT estate, an auction that blends fine art, nostalgia, and standout display pieces.
Anchoring the sale is a significant collection of mixed media and oil paintings by Dimitry Merinoff (Russian/NYC, 1896–1971). These works were formally commissioned to a gallery following his 1980 exhibition of pieces spanning 1950–1970 at the Museum of Modern Art. With original gallery pricing in 1988 ranging from $1,500 to $12,500, this collection presents a rare opportunity to acquire works with both artistic and historical relevance.
Complementing the fine art is an exceptional assortment of antique and vintage advertising, including tin and porcelain signs, WWII-era and motivational posters, and a variety of eye-catching advertising pieces from a refined Greenwich estate. The undisputed centerpiece is a bold and iconic 6-foot round Tydol Flying A porcelain oil sign; an impressive statement piece for any serious collector.
Also featured is a curated group of finely detailed paintings by Gene Speck, acquired directly from the artist’s studio, adding depth and craftsmanship to this already diverse sale.
Whether you’re a seasoned collector, decorator, or enthusiast of Americana and industrial design, this auction offers something special - distinctive pieces ready to elevate both home interiors and garage showcases alike.
