Greenwich Auction & Connecticut Antique Center at 83 Harvard Avenue in Stamford, Connecticut will be holding a large auction on Sunday October 23rd at 11am. The auction is titled, “The Max Kuehne Collection, Fine Art, Jewelry & Designer Furniture.” The auction catalog features over eight hundred items.

This auction features a unique group of furniture pieces and mirrors by artist Max Kuehne. Max Kuehne, an important American artist and furniture maker was born in Halle, Germany on November 7, 1880. As a child he immigrated with his family to the United States. Max Kuehne is known for town-landscapes, still life paintings, marine / harbor paintings, sculpture, decorative screens, furniture pieces and frames. With time family members joined Max in the arts and furniture business, creating works in the style he made famous. Our October 23rd auction features the works of Max Kuehne, Hal Kuehne and Richard Kuehne. Works include three coffee tables by Max as well as frames, currently housing mirrors, by Hal and Richard. All the Kuehne items have accompanying gallery paperwork and provenance, having been displayed at Hollis Taggart Galleries in Manhattan. 

 

In addition to art pieces by Max Kuehne and his family we are also offering a wide selection of antique 19th and early 20th century original oil paintings from the United States and Europe, signed prints by Peter Max, Louis Icart and Erte. 

 

Also included are over one hundred and twenty lots of fine jewelry, costume jewelry, fur coats and designer accessories. Fine jewelry pieces include estate and contemporary items in gold and silver set with diamonds, emeralds, sapphire, topaz, etc. Also being sold are numerous jade, pearl, turquoise, spinel and amethyst necklaces. Fur items include full length coats and wraps in mink and silver fox. A selection of vintage Hermes silk scarves and jewelry will also be offered.

 

The October 23rd auction will include over one hundred lots of designer and custom made furniture from a Back Country Greenwich designer decorated estate. This includes carpets by Stark, furniture and lighting from the Federalist, furniture and draperies from Kravet Inc, lighting by Philippe Starck by Kartell, as well as flatscreen televisions and decorative items. 

 

Hundreds of additional furniture items, decorative objects, collectibles, silver pieces, carpets and lighting from antique to contemporary design will be offered from homes in Bedford, New York and Greenwich, Westport, Darien and Stamford, Connecticut.
