Privately Listed Sale
Description & Details
A colorful and carefully curated moving sale featuring contemporary furniture, original artwork and home décor from a beautifully furnished Stamford apartment.
The sale includes a Rove Concepts Porter Modular Sectional in Alesund, left-hand-facing configuration; a distinctive ebonized ash folding dining table with six high-back chairs; Restoration Hardware nightstands; additional bedroom furniture; occasional tables; lighting; mirrors; decorative accessories; and useful household items.
The dining set features an oval drop-leaf table with a folding gateleg base and five geometric high-back chairs with upholstered leather seats. The design is associated with Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s Model 322/DS1 and Cassina reproductions. The set was purchased approximately 25–30 years ago and was expensive when acquired; however, the maker’s label has not yet been located or verified. The table requires some restoration and will be sold in its current condition.
A special feature of the sale will be a collection of original watercolors by Janice Cocks, a longtime Ridgefield resident who passed away in 2002 and left an impressive legacy of watercolor and oil paintings.
Janice was introduced to art studies at the University of Toronto in Canada. After taking time away from painting to raise her children, she studied for many years with noted area artist Albert Werner. Her paintings appeared in several juried exhibitions at the Ridgefield Guild, the Kent Art Association, and Somerstown Studios and Gallery in Somers, New York. She also presented two solo exhibitions in the area, and her work is held in private collections in Ridgefield, on the West Coast and in Canada.
The sale will also include a vibrant selection of Haitian art in a variety of sizes and styles.
Highlights include:
• Ebonized ash folding oval dining table with six high-back chairs, in the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Model 322/DS1 design; maker not yet verified
