SPLENDID CHINA MINIATURES
Splendid China, a $100 million theme park that brought visitors face to face with the beauty and landmarks of China in miniature form, was abandoned in 2003. Accurate scale models of some of China’s most interesting architectural and cultural sites were left to rot when the park’s president, Sunny Yang, was called back to China and placed under arrest, in part because of allegations of financial mismanagement from his handling of the attraction. On December 9th, 2004, a general auction was scheduled in an attempt to sell off the park assets.
Deco Gallery of AAA Imports of Apopka, Florida, stepped in and saved the exquisite China minatures, doing what they could to salvage relics from one of Florida’s strangest attractions of the 1990s.
Today many of the original miniature landmarks, palaces and buildings of China are on display in their Chinese Gardens and parking lot. Others are located in the back yard of this home.
