No checks please, cash and credit cards (gladly accepted on purchases over $25 with no additional charge to the customer. We now take credit cards on purchases below $25 with a 3% service charge. Neither Ortega Trading Company nor the property owner are liable for accidents or injuries. Entrance onto this private property is at your own risk. Regard all restricted areas and understand that if you choose otherwise, you will be asked to leave. All sales final and items are sold as is, where is. You are responsible for thorough inspection of your intended purchases prior to final sale. We may require you to schedule pick up and move of large furnishing and rugs in non-peak times or after sale hours. No large bags, food or drinks and please, please no pets. We love our furry friends but have carpets and fine furnishings. Please bring help to move large items. We have an authorized moving contractor that can be scheduled for a fee. Thank you in advance for coming, shopping and respecting our terms. A sign-up sheet for entry to the sale will be put out in front of the property at 5 PM that evening prior to the sale. OTC reserves the first 10 spots for the property owners, their friends and family, consigners and consultants. However, all ten spots are rarely filled.
As you know, Ortega Trading Company is VERY discerning about the type of sales we agree to host. We tend to veer towards large, usually waterfront properties...preferably in our usual stomping ground...filled with traditional antiques and fine contemporary furnishings. And while the QUALITY of this estate remains true to our mission, it is, well...a tad unique. Jay was surprised I wanted this sale so badly...off our beaten path and so eclectic. But sometimes, an estate and it’s collections SPEAK TO ME....and this one certainly did! The late owner built this home to suit ALL HER NEEDS...she wanted to consolidate her most favorite things from throughout the years, including: an early life in traditional Ortega, her first finds as a young married woman in the late sixties, a foray into the groovy seventies entertaining style, her over the top eighties Italianate beach condo, massive wall space for a life long love of art that was embraced in the nineties, a courtyard garden oasis that brought “the outdoors in “ as well as mountain house style den for her sweetheart of a husband in the 2000s...along with nearly new, comfortable, stylish and family friendly furnishings and a separate,, still accessible apartment for visiting family or in home health care...so practical in this last decade. While part of the once massive courtyard has now been enclosed, this house is truly a space of vision...designed by a woman who knew nothing of future trends like VERBO, AIRBNB, resort living AT HOME ..,And mostly how an individual woman’s personal sense of style and commitment to quality can UNIFY all of these eras.
