Welcome to Criticalglass's second auction of 2024! This is arguably the highest quality auction from Criticalglass.com. There are over 180 pieces including many incredible museum-quality examples - A J. Hoare turquoise to clear footed vase in Croesus certainly stands out! Perhaps the best large tray ever made - a 15 1/4" diameter Hawkes Willow (Lattice & Rosettes) round platter! An unbelievable Clark Waldorf vase with 3 rows of rose-diamond! A most incredible Sinclaire octagonal punch bowl in Assyrian and Gooseberries. A stunning Libbey Aztec goblet. Some of the most exotic colored pieces ever made - a cobalt/cranberry deer vase with blinding color, a set of Stevens & Williams champagne flutes with a wide variety of colors including turquoise over gold and cranberry over gold, the most incredible rainbow finger bowl with several distinct colors, a Stevens & Williams green matte pitcher with heavy gilt silver top, and a Hawkes amethyst jar with identical pieces in the Smithsonian and Corning museum of glass. Some incredibly important engraving is also featured including a Hawkes vase engraved by William Morse - widely considered the greatest American engraver. Many incredible sets, several massive 10+ LB vases including a 25 pound Harvard vase, colored stems, and every shape and size under the sun. This auction also features many whimsical pieces including a genuine Hawkes Holland car vase, a footed salt by Libbey in Stratford, a 3 piece Libbey jelly jar, and a Libbey shaving mug.
