Description & Details
Welcome to Criticalglass's 12th auction! My dad, Neal Fleisher, was a lifelong collector of cut glass starting at the age of 13. This auction will feature many of his prized pieces that he enjoyed over the course of nearly 70 years of collecting cut glass - it's now time for others to enjoy them as much as he did. This auction features a treasure trove of high-quality items from not only my dad's collection, but also other important collections from around the country. There are over 160 pieces including many incredible museum-quality examples. This auction features some incredible examples of colored glass including some top-tier stemware from Hoare, Hawkes, and two Stevens & Williams decanters - a ships decanter in cobalt to citron to clear and a miniature whiskey jug in emerald to clear! In addition to the aforementioned decanters, there are some world-class examples all with pattern-cut stoppers including a particularly special one in Libbey's Columbia, Clark's Orloff, Hawkes' Grecian, and Hawkes' Gravic Corn. Also worth mentioning is a singular, custom made and documented suite of drinkware made for steel magnate and patron of the arts, Henry Clay Frick in the most beautiful rock crystal engraving. Another extraordinarily rare piece of stemware is lot 74 in Dorflinger's hardly ever seen Spiral - with full, pattern-cut stem! Some of the finest designs in cut glass are being sold in this sale but do not miss two exemplary pieces - lot 120 - one of the finest cut pieces I've ever handled - Anderson's Windy City and lot 55 - Anderson's Fan Border. Every shape, style, silver mounted pieces, color, is represented in this high-quality sale!
