This sale offers thousands of records. 90% are classical. If you’re a culture vulture, you can’t miss this sale! The collection includes imports (German, French, English), boxed sets, audiophile pressings, Limited edition/numbered editions and more. There are a few hundred audiophile recordings have been individually priced. But, with a collection this size, we couldn’t separate all the gems. There are audiophile LPs of rock and jazz as well. Everything from original Masters, Digital, analogue, limited/numbered editions and more.
There are also some boxed Classical CD sets (rare and long OOP) and a huge swath of laserdiscs, ranging from the first releases – no music ones, just Hollywood films. He also had a nice collection of reel to reel classical recording as well as home made recordings.
There are also tons of vintage audio magazines!
There are a few hundred non classical records scattered on the shelves. We did not have time to separate them all. We have not cracked his filing system. There’s classic 60s rock (Beatles, Stones, Dylan in stereo and mono), Jazz (He favored ivory tinklers like Evans and Brubeck, but some Davis thrown in), country, crooners (Sinatra, Streisand) lots of movie soundtracks, world music and pop. A very nice selection of folk (Pete Seeger, Weavers), here, too.
We didn’t get a chance to grade many. Again, there’s too much here. But, the collector left copious notes on the protective sleeves that we trust. Alas, while the classical seems like they got the white glove treatment, the rock and other genres did not get the same TLC.
One of our appraisers said, for classical, this sale is worth coming from out of state for!!!!
