This is a High Rise elevator building with residents of a particular age. Please park on WEST SIDE of building to load out. Enter through West side of building via SERVICE ELEVATOR. 104 Year Estate of Mrs. Elizabeth Harris Lawson
Does she look like she takes no for an answer? HA! I think not! Mrs Elizabeth Lawson. Mother of one of Chicago lands most prominent Doctors.
She was a graduate of Chicago Teachers College (who remembers CTC?) Mrs Lawson lived to see and assist with many things we take for granted. For starters, via the Air Force Academy she pioneered the desegregation of the South! She had a FIRST CLASS seat on Air Force One, thank you very much! And of course she traveled the world.
Born in Springfield Missouri 104 years ago, Mrs Lawson's dad was THE prominent Black Physician in a racist town, that thrived on hatred. When Mrs Lawson was just a small 4 yr old child, her family was burned out of their mansion on a hot summer morning--by the KKK.
That didn't stop this prominent family. They moved up north to the Bronzeville community. 40 years in Lake Meadows. That’s the tip of Bronzeville, The Gap, South Loop, North Kenwood. Many of her children became “sought after” Physicians. Anyone ever give birth at Rush? Well then you probably recognize the famous Lawson name!
