An Orange Moon presents another historic estate sale. This one is located in Beverly--some know this community as "Lillydale," and is the estate of Mr. & Mrs. Sir Charles Brooks.


Sydonia Brooks, a world renowned music teacher here in Chicago taught at Kipling & Coleman elementary schools. Richard M. Daley, mayor bequeathed April 29th Sydonia Brooks Day. She also held the title of 1990-91 “Distinguished Woman of the Year in Music.” Her life collection boasts Mid Century Modern furniture--an ORANGE daybed, "egg yolk" lamps, a dining room set, several china cabinets, chairs...all mid century modern. We are also offering her music collection of records, reel to reel tapes, equipment, microphones & camera's.

Mr & Mrs Brooks were clothes horses too!! Look for couture Dior, Gucci, & Paris evening gowns, hats, shoes, & daywear. There are not a few items, but 1 room of 25 by 18 room, & the second room measuring nearly the same! Their house (4) levels is a 60’s throwback all the way to the chandeliers. Her husband a photographer, was a dapper dresser as well. So shout out to all vintage men & women clothing & shoe collectors. Again, we’ve devoted 2 entire rooms to shoes and clothing alone, so shout out to my vintage people! Mr. Brooks has shoe trees in every pair of shoes, and Mrs. Brooks kept every shoe box for her 100's of pairs of shoes--now thats "ol skool." 

Lots of records, cameras, Black memorabilia, Mid Century Modern furniture, Baldwin Pianos, 2 Rodger organs, 10 bookcases of books, dishes, men & women's vintage clothing & shoes… 4 levels!!

*Mr. Brooks "Man Cave" is in the lowest level basement. Here you'll find tons of books, national geographics, 1969 "Sex to Sexty" adult magazines, books of black & white photos, 50 1960's laser discs with the Beta machine, cameras... We need your help. PLEASE DIG!

Just to be clear this an historic "museum quality" sale. Mr. Sir Charles Brooks served his country in the US NAVY & has a thank letter from President Truman stating so. Many historic photographs of military, family & friends! PLEASE DIG!!

This sale boast plenty of boxes and areas of this home where you are welcome to dig! This house is definitely a “throwback into a pre-historic sack. ” Everything in the house screams 1960’s! This is definitely an urban dig! So please plan to stay for a while. As always, complimentary Corona’s & a great musical playlist featuring “Beach House,” provided for your listening enjoyment.
